The availability of a wide array of polymeric excipients, the recent introduction of melt granulation technologies using twin screw extruders, and the interrelationship between excipients and technology will bring major changes in how tablets are formulated and produced in the future.

A method is proposed whereby the determination of the level of incorporation of a boundary lubricant is based on the surface area of the blend or granulation and the shape of the lubricant particles. This is a more logical approach to the lubrication of blends and granulations for the manufacture of solid oral dosage forms than the percentage by weight approach that has traditionally been used.

A bilayer tablet formulation containing two different grades of colloidal silicon dioxide exhibited significantly different layer
separation/delamination behavior when exposed to increased humidity.

Excipients can cause a considerable challenge when developing a solid form of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). The aim of this present study was to analyze the polymorphs of clarithromycin (CAM) mixed with excipients using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD).

Polymers are essential components of melt extruded products. The objective of the present study was to generate
physicochemical data of polyvinylpyrrolidone-based polymers and copolymers, cellulosic polymers and Polymethacrylates
and polymethacrylic acid based polymers that are used in hot melt extrusion (HME).
